![]() PROFESSIONAL TRAINING . . . Yes, I have been teaching Ju-Jitsu for over four decades as an avocation, but I am also a fully credentialled public school teacher who has designed instructional programs, trained teachers, and served as a resource for those who wished to improve their teaching skills, as I continued to improve mine. This continuous training, sense of professionalism, and desire to provide my students with a comprehensive and totally transparent educational process has carried over into how I will help you learn the art. [That's why there's so much information on this website.] There are no secrets and there are no surprises here. It's all up front so that you can concentrate on learning and achieving your goals. My responsibility, as your sensei, will be to act as a resource and be your guide as you learn and master the art of Budoshin Ju-Jitsu. TRADITION . . . ![]() Budoshin Ju-Jitsu is designed to help you learn the traditional ju-jitsu and an effective personalized self-defense system at the same time. Ideally the best situation would be for you to learn Budoshin Ju-Jitsu in a dojo with a qualified sensei. The reality is that there are many people like you who would like to learn and master traditional Ju-Jitsu, but can’t find a dojo. Up until the mid 1990’s you were just out of luck. You could get some books on ju-jitsu [preferably mine], but beyond that you were left to your own devices. SUPPORTED BY MODERN TECHNOLOGY . . . Starting in the 1990’s four major events occurred that changed the “traditional” manner in which ju-jitsu was taught. First, Panther Productions released my 8-DVD series which took students step by step from white belt up to shodan [and nidan if you use the DVDs wisely]. This DVD series made it possible for you to learn Budoshin Ju-Jitsu in your own home – or even in a non-ju-jitsu dojo. This was a major technological breakthrough that made a top-quality video program available for everyone who wanted to learn Budoshin Ju-Jitsu. ![]() The third major event has been the cross-referencing of techniques from my videos, my “Ohara” books, the “big book” and the techniques listed in the Student and Black Belt Handbooks. Whether you are in my dojo or in some distance location, you now have multiple references for techniques. All the materials are cross-referenced. There is no more guessing about what sensei is looking for on a performance exam. The fourth major event was the conversion of all "core" printed documents to .pdf format. This includes the Student and Black Belt Handbooks, all issues of Kokoro, and the "Big Book." Students can now use any .pdf reader to search for specific items in any of these publications. This is especially true for the Big Book, where you can enter a technique name [in Japanese or English] or the technique reference or cross reference number [to Ohara books and Panther DVDs] and be immediately taken to that item on your computer. The conversion to .pdf has become a tremendous timesaver and reference tool for students and sensei alike. EQUALS A PROGRAM MADE JUST FOR YOU! ![]() You want a black belt in Budoshin Ju-Jitsu?
